What It Is

The Pro Shift is a comprehensive internship that takes you from advanced recreational diver to certified dive professional. You'll build essential rescue skills, learn to assist and lead dives, and earn your Divemaster rating — with the option to continue through Instructor and MSDT levels. This bundle is all about transforming your passion into a professional edge, supported by the experience and professionalism of The Dive Trainer at Scuba Playa, top diving center in Playa del Carmen.

Your Path, Your Pace

This bundle is available in three levels so you can customize your experience based on your timeline and goals. You’ll develop your dive leadership skills through a mix of distance learning, hands-on workshops, and real-world teaching experiences, supported by a team of experienced pros.

• Standard (4–6 weeks)

  All core courses to get up to Divemaster, including hands-on workshops, dive guiding practice, Dive Against Debris specialty, and 30 dives. Plus, enjoy the benefits of PADI Club membership throughout your journey.

  
  

• Premium (6–9 weeks)

  Everything in Standard + IDC with EFR Instructor and Emergency Oxygen Provider Instructor training.

  
  

• Elite (7–10 weeks)

  All of Premium + MSDT preparation with 5 Specialty Instructor ratings.

  
  

  Courses can be completed all at once or over a 6-month period. Duration reflects full-time scheduling.

Course Structure & Schedule

The program combines flexibility with hands-on experience:

• eLearning is included for each course, so you can complete theory online before arrival.

• Live Videoconference Classes – 3 days for Divemaster knowledge development (can be delivered in person during the hands-on training modules); 6 to 9 days for IDC and MSDT (Premium and Elite only)

• Practical training involves confined sessions, open water scenarios, and skill workshops guided by experienced instructors.

• Daily schedule – tailored week-by-week depending on your package, course progression, and diving conditions

Playa del Carmen offers a dynamic mix of reef and cavern environments ideal for developing real-world teaching skills. Your pro-level dives will take place in coral gardens and reef walls alive with parrotfish, angelfish, sea turtles, and the occasional nurse shark. From November to April, you might even witness the impressive Bull Sharks in their seasonal habitat. Want to level up your experience?
