The PADI Instructor Development Course prepares you to teach, mentor, and inspire the next generation of divers. Throughout the program, you'll develop the knowledge, teaching techniques, and professional skills required to become a successful PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The PADI Instructor Development Course combines independent study, practical training, and professional mentorship to prepare you for the PADI Instructor Examination.
Course Preparation
Before arriving in Mahahual, you'll complete the required PADI eLearning and knowledge development assignments, supported by our onboarding session and study follow-up.
IDC Training in Mahahual
The IDC is delivered over 18 days of in-person training with Takata Experience. You'll participate in classroom workshops, teaching presentations, confined water sessions, open water training, rescue assessments, and instructor-level skill development.
Students enrolled in the Premium and Elite packages also complete their Specialty Instructor training during this period.
Coral Conservation Workshop
Learn about reef ecosystems, conservation challenges, and restoration efforts through a dedicated workshop led by the marine biologist from Mares Center.
Instructor Examination (IE)
After completing the IDC, you'll attend the two-day PADI Instructor Examination (IE) in Tulum, conducted by independent PADI Examiners.
Training takes place in classrooms, confined water facilities, and the open waters of Mahahual, with plenty of opportunities for coaching, feedback, and skill refinement throughout the program.
COURSE PREREQUISITES

PADI Divemaster or:
an instructor member in good standing (renewed or eligible to renew) with another recognized recreational diver training organization.*
have a leadership-level certification in good standing (renewed or eligible to renew) with another recognized recreational diver training organization;*
60 logged dives; documented experience in night diving, deep diving, and underwater navigation.
18 years old
Medical clearance attesting to dive fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months, and have had no medical condition changes
Certified diver for at least six months.
Completed the EFR Primary and Secondary Care course, or other qualifying training, within the last 24 months.
Documentation of any non-PADI qualifying entry-level, advanced, rescue, and leadership level certifications* is required.
